She Ghosted Her Parents After A Birthday Dinner Gone Wrong, And They Actually Filed A Missing Person’s Report With Local Police
This twenty-seven-year-old woman has been married to her husband for five years already. Plus, before that, she dated her husband for two years.
Despite being together for all of that time, though, her parents still have not exactly taken a liking to her husband. But at least they are friendly and civil toward him, right?
Well, her twenty-two-year-old sister, on the other hand, is not so amicable. Apparently, her sister is just self-absorbed and seems to think the world revolves around her.
“My sister is the light of my parent’s lives and can do absolutely no wrong in their eyes. Simply put, my husband and I generally keep our distance from her,” she explained.
Last weekend, though, she and her husband were not able to keep her sister at arm’s length any longer because they were forced to celebrate her father’s sixtieth birthday.
So, of course, her entire family was invited to a big dinner, and she was not shocked that her little sister was there. Instead, she had just intended to ignore that fact and try to have a pleasant evening with her father. Unfortunately, though, her sister apparently had different plans.
For context, her husband has to follow explicit dietary restrictions that are a part of his religion.
“Everyone in the family knows about this and has been accommodating thus far,” she added.
But then, after she and her husband had finished eating their dinner, she learned that her sister had tampered with the food.

In fact, her sister actually stood up at the table and announced that she had asked the caterers to add some of the restricted food items to the sauces beforehand. And you might be thinking, why the heck would she do that?
Well, apparently, her sister wanted to “test” if her husband would “even know the difference” between the safe and restricted ingredients. How incredibly disrespectful.
So, if you could not have guessed, she was furious, and her husband was appalled. Then, they decided to just get up and leave the dinner together immediately.
All the while, though, her sister was screaming how it “was not a big deal” and how she and her husband needed to take the sticks out of their butts. On top of that, both of her parents shockingly just sat there watching and said absolutely nothing. Yikes.
Anyway, that only infuriated her more. But nothing could have prepared her for the texts she would receive once she got home.
Apparently, her parents texted her later that evening and claimed that she should not have been so hard on her sister. They also used her sister’s young age as an excuse and tried to say that her sister did not know any better.
And receiving that message from her parents understandably really pissed her off. So, she never responded. Then, while thinking about the text further, she actually decided to just cut off communication with all of her family members who were at the party.
Her husband also agreed with her choice, so, together, they opted to ignore every text and call since the party. Plus, she refused to see her parents in person, either.
“When my parents showed up at the house, we did not open the door. When they showed up at my work, I did not go to reception. I have not laid eyes on them at all,” she revealed.
But, her decision to go no contact apparently set off some more severe alarm bells in her parent’s heads. In fact, they never considered that maybe she just did not want to speak with them.
Instead, they jumped to the conclusion that she must have gone missing and actually filed a missing person report with their local police!
So, a few days ago, some police officers showed up on her doorstep and shared how they were looking for her because she had supposedly gone missing. Obviously, though, that was not the case, and she quickly explained what had happened to the authorities and resolved the issue.
But now, she has been dealing with even more drama because, apparently, her friends are pissed off that she “wasted police resources” instead of just texting her parents back and saying that she did not want to speak with them.
In all honesty, she thinks her friends’ argument is bonkers and believes that since she is a grown woman, she has no obligation to tell her parents where she is.
At the same time, though, everyone’s comments have forced her to wonder if basically ghosting her parents and pushing them to file a missing person report was the wrong thing to do.
Why do you think her parents defended her sister’s actions? If you were in her shoes, would you have answered your parent’s texts and calls? Do you believe it was her fault that police resources were “wasted” or not?
