Her Sister Referred To Her Husband’s Late Wife As An “Ex-Toy” And Claimed Her Husband Should Have No Photos Of His Late Wife In The House, So She Kicked Her Sister Out
This young woman has been with her husband for six years and married to him for four years now. But, just a few months before they met, her husband was grieving a horrible tragedy.
Apparently, her husband had already gotten married to his first wife when he was younger. Tragically, though, his first wife passed away in a car accident– and he was utterly devastated.
While mourning the loss of his late wife, though, she and her husband met. But from the beginning, she never wanted to take his late wife’s place.
“I never expected to ‘replace’ his late wife in any way, and I considered myself another chapter in his life,” she explained.
“I was warmly accepted into the family and his circle of friends.”
So, there were never any problems with her and her husband’s late wife both being a part of different times of his life. Well, that was until just recently, when her sister blatantly disrespected his late wife’s memory.
It all began after her sister fell on some hard times. She lost her job, apartment, and bills were stacking up. So, she generously offered to take her sister into her and her husband’s home.
Then, one night while her husband was out of the house, her sister was kind of snooping around the house when she wandered into her husband’s home office. And inside the office, her sister found a framed photo of him and his late wife.
Apparently, the photo was just a typical couple photo– not from their wedding or anything. And since her husband did not have any children with his late wife, she understands that pictures are all he has. So, he keeps that one photo in the house in his late wife’s honor.
Well, her sister did not have the same foresight to understand that– because after discovering the picture, her sister stomped into the living room to confront her.
First, her sister angrily asked why the heck she would allow her husband to keep “a photo of an ex” in her house while holding up the frame.
She was obviously confused, though, and pointed out how first, it was both her and her husband’s house. Second, she clarified that her husband’s late wife was not just an ex.
“She died in an accident and was his wife for eight years. She was a huge part of his life. He keeps that one photo out,” she told her sister.
Still, though, her sister did not get it. In fact, her sister just kept insisting that an ex is anyone who you have slept with who is not in the picture anymore. Plus, her sister claimed she should have never allowed her husband to keep that photo or any other photos of his late wife.
At that point, though, she was fed up with hearing her sister’s unwanted opinion. So, she told her sister that she was being extremely disrespectful to both her and her husband. She also reiterated that her sister was a guest in her house and told her sister to apologize immediately.
But apparently, her sister totally failed to take the hint and actually asked why she should have to apologize. Then, her sister had the nerve to refer to her husband’s late wife as an “ex-toy.”
So, at that moment, she decided to kick her sister out. She did not care that it was November in Minnesota or that her sister had no money and nowhere else to go. She just could not stand to hear her sister disparaging her husband’s first marriage or wife.
“I never knew his first wife, but I know how much she meant to him. I know how much he loves me,” she vented.
“My sister talking about her like that insulted my husband and, by extension, me. Not to mention how disrespectful my sister was being to a poor woman who died young.”
Anyway, she ended up making sure that her sister was gone before her husband returned home. And once he arrived, she filled him in on the entire situation.
Her husband was honestly shocked to hear what her sister had said– especially because her sister and husband had a very polite relationship prior. Nonetheless, he thanked her for having his back and standing up for him.
Not long after the entire argument, though, she received a call from her mother. And according to her mother, it is her responsibility to care for her sister– not kick her to the curb.
To be honest, though, she wound up just laughing at her mom on the phone, hanging up the call, and trying to move on.
Despite that, a few more people from her family have begun questioning her decision. More specifically, they are wondering why she would be willing to destroy her relationship with her sister over a photo– which she just does not get at all.
She tried telling her family that her sister was the one who damaged their relationship and refused to apologize. But they just do not understand that.
So now, she has been stuck in the middle of the family drama and has been left wondering if she handled the situation like a jerk or if she did the right thing by sticking up for her husband and his late wife.
Why do you think her sister was so appalled by the photo? Doesn’t her husband have a right to remember his late wife rather than erase her from his life completely? Was kicking her sister out an overreaction, or was it justified? What would you have done?
