She Had No Idea Her Husband Had A Mistress, But She Just Met This Woman At Her Husband’s Work Party, Where She Also Found Out About The Affair

This 34-year-old woman recently attended her 35-year-old husband’s work party, and while you might be thinking that’s an innocent enough event, it was a night she will never forget because it ruined everything she thought about her husband and her life.
To begin with, she was not interested in being dragged along to her husband’s work party, but he kept saying she just had to go with him.
Their 7-year-old son was sick leading up to the party, so that’s why she wanted to stay home, but her husband kept pleading with her, so she caved and said yes.
So, her mother-in-law stepped in to babysit for the evening, and she got all done up, ready to go to the party.
As soon as she got to the party, though, she phoned up her mother-in-law to see how her son was doing, as she was so worried about him showing different symptoms he hadn’t shown before.
“My husband complained, saying I don’t need to keep checking up on the kids (we have 3) and just need to let him show me off,” she explained.
“I didn’t really like how he implied that I was just something to show off. Like, I’m a trophy wife or something.”
Her husband brought her around to meet the majority of his coworkers, but she really wasn’t paying attention because she was so focused on their sick son.
She continuously texted her mother-in-law for a play-by-play and did her best to try to have a nice time at the party.

She was concerned that her being sidetracked would make her husband have a bad time, so she had a couple of drinks to try to stop being so anxious.
Then, one woman at the party came walking right up to her and her husband.
“She had a smug grin on her face and greeted my husband with a hug and kiss on his cheek,” she explained.
“I didn’t think much of it, it’s a pretty standard greeting. But then she started to say some things that retrospectively are (upsetting).”
“She was calling herself his work wife and that she should help look after my children like that was a normal suggestion from a work colleague. I again decided to ignore her. My husband didn’t seem interested. How wrong was I.”
Several hours later, guests began to go home. By then, it was 10 in the evening, and she was itching to get back home to their children.
When she brought this up to her husband, he just grumbled about how he really wanted to spend a bit longer with his coworkers, as a few of them were heading out to a bar.
She replied that she wasn’t interested because she really wanted to go home. Her husband didn’t stop her; he just said don’t stay up all night waiting for him to go home.
She was bothered by how her husband brushed off the fact that their son was home sick, and she couldn’t understand why he wasn’t as worried as she was.
As soon as she had walked out of the building, she noticed that she had left her phone behind, so she turned around and went back into the building so she could grab it.
When she made her way back to where the party was, she came across her husband and this woman who had approached them earlier claiming to be his work wife, and they were making out in a corner.
She quickly collected her phone, snapped a photo of her husband with his mistress, and left. That night she fell asleep in her son’s bedroom because she didn’t want to have to come face-to-face with her husband after finding out that he was clearly cheating on her.
The following morning, her husband could tell that something was up, and when he prodded her about what was going on, she questioned him about how long he had been having his affair.
Initially, her husband claimed that he wasn’t having one, but she whipped out the photo she had taken the night before, and he finally confessed to the affair being 3 months old.
Her stomach dropped as her husband told her this, and it dawned on her that her husband also didn’t care about their sick son because he was too invested in his mistress.
“And he wanted to parade me around like a show pony just to publicly kiss her,” she said. “How…humiliating that these people, who I didn’t even know, knew about my husband’s public affair before I even had a clue.”
“What makes me even more sick is I’ve been suffering from postpartum depression. We have a six-month-old baby, and his dad is off with some other woman. I don’t know what to do. I kicked him out of the house, I can barely look at him.”
She’s done her best to divert her attention towards taking care of her children, prepping them for school, completing some housework, and painting the cabinets in her kitchen.
She’s reached a point, though, where she can’t keep on preventing herself from thinking about the affair.
Since then, she’s been sobbing nonstop while feeling angry at her husband and herself as well. She’s not sure how she can ever begin to trust her husband again after such a betrayal.
“How much am I to blame in this, too?” she wondered. “Surely, he must’ve been bored enough to go to someone else months after his youngest son was born. Clearly, I’m doing something wrong. But what? I gave everything to this man.”
“I gave up my career for him. I became a housewife because he felt it would be better for the upbringing of our kids. But I don’t know what I want now. I can’t stand to even look at him, but the idea of divorce makes me feel violently ill. Like I’m letting her win somehow.”
She’s left wondering if she should really walk away from her marriage or if she should pull it together and stick it out for the sake of her children.
If you found yourself in her shoes, what would you choose?
