He And His Wife Hired A Babysitter To Watch Their Infant Son, But Then The Babysitter Brought Over Her Dog Without Asking First, So He Fired Her

This 33-year-old man and his wife, who is the same age as him, just welcomed their son into the world 6 months ago.
He and his wife really wanted to go out on a date together one evening, so they asked a 20-year-old college girl that they know to babysit their son.
This particular babysitter lives in their same neighborhood, and they originally met her because several of their friends suggested her to them.
They had already asked her to come over about 6 times before to watch their son, so they felt comfortable asking her to babysit for their date night.
The evening of their date night arrived, the babysitter got to their house, and they went over the schedule for their son before leaving.
Their plan was to have dinner together before hanging out with some friends to grab drinks. Now, he and his wife have 2 different cameras inside their home that they use to check in on their son.
One camera is placed over where he sleeps, and the second camera is placed by where he plays in the living room.
Their babysitter completely knew about the cameras, so he stated it was not like they were trying to spy on her.
“My wife gets a notification that there is motion in the play area; she pulls it up to check in,” he explained.

“She sees a dog sniffing our son. We are both like …we don’t own any dogs and have no plans to ever own any dogs. We try calling, no answer, so we rush home. We go inside, and the babysitter is holding our son, and there is a golden retriever just hanging out. Everyone is calm and fine.”
“The babysitter seems shocked we are already home. I ask the babysitter why there is a dog in our house. She says it’s her golden retriever and decided to bring it today. The babysitter assures us the dog is baby and kid-friendly and is sweet and safe.”
The thing is, he doesn’t want his son to be anywhere near any dog because he’s so little. He didn’t care that the babysitter was promising that her dog was lovely; it made him upset.
He stood there and got more infuriated, though, especially since the babysitter never once mentioned to them that she was going to bring her dog to their home.
If the babysitter had been honest about bringing her dog, he would have still told her no.
“I just firmly tell her to grab her dog and please leave,” he said. “I inform her we won’t be using her in the future and pay her half her rate we had agreed upon, mostly since we used her less than half the time we were going to be out.”
“She asks for the full amount. I told her, no, you put my kid in danger, and you should leave. She says she did nothing wrong, but I don’t see it that way.”
He’s left wondering if he handled things in the right way. What do you think?
