“He’s Just Not That Into You” – Available On Hulu
This 2009 classic likely needs no introduction and features an impressive roster of stars– including Scarlett Johansson, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Aniston, Ben Affleck, Drew Barrymore, and Justin Long. The movie is set in Baltimore and follows friends and lovers who are all in their twenties and thirties as they attempt to navigate the trials and tribulations of modern relationships.
The over-arching storylines tackle themes such as commitment issues, the “waiting game,” trust issues, and defying the status quo. Aside from its serious nuance, though, the rom-com is also quite hilarious.
“Valentine’s Day” – Available On HBO Max
The name probably speaks for itself, but this 2010 fan-favorite is perfect for the month of February.
Yet again, the rom-com touts an impressive cast list– starring Anne Hathaway, Julia Roberts, Jamie Foxx, Taylor Lautner, Jessica Alba, Emma Roberts, Eric Dane, Jennifer Garner, Taylor Swift, Ashton Kutcher, and, my favorite, Patrick Dempsey. Similar to “He’s Just Not That Into You,” this flick follows the interconnected stories of numerous Los Angeles couples as they navigate love on the most love-filled day of the year– Valentine’s Day.
Viewers get to watch as teenage crushes, first dates, and connections with old flames unfold all at the same time. In doing so, the movie shows that love can spark in countless different perfectly un-perfect ways.
