She Commented On Her Stepdaughter’s B.O. At The Dinner Table, And Said More Showers Were Needed, So Her Stepdaughter Became Pretty Embarrassed

After she said that, though, her stepdaughter started tearing up. Plus, Sam did not eat any dinner that night and did not leave her bedroom until around 12:00 p.m. the following day.

This pushed her husband to accuse her of being insensitive. At the same time, though, she pointed out how her husband could not give her any better ideas on how to handle Sam’s lack of hygiene.

She claimed that she had already tried more “gentle” ways to approach her stepdaughter in the past. For instance, she and her husband tried getting Sam higher quality body care items– like deodorants, soaps, shampoos, conditioners, toothpaste, and special toothbrushes.

They also made sure that her stepdaughter had access to more “quick fix” options– such as dry shampoo, perfume, gum, and breath mints.

Sam only ever utilized the breath mints, though, and continued showering just three to six times per week.

Some of the firmer approaches she and her husband have tried implementing were barring Sam from going to events until she showered.

But, she claimed that her stepdaughter would just call their bluff and go to the same events another day– still without showering.

And since Sam used to shower regularly as a tween and even after puberty, she claimed that she is genuinely concerned about the core issues of her stepdaughter’s hygiene shift.

“It seems like she is going for longer stretches and even going to school without having showered for a couple of days,” she explained.

“I don’t want her to have this follow her throughout school and be known as the smelly kid. And I want to understand why, when she’s visibly uncomfortable because of her lack of showering, she doesn’t clean up.”

In spite of how pure her intentions may be, though, it was clear that her stepdaughter became upset after she made that comment at the dinner table.
