A year has passed, and her brother and his wife now have a new baby. His custody agreement changed, and his kids will now be able to stay with him 3-4 times a year for longer stays. For example, they’ll be spending their summer with him.
He and his wife relocated again into a much bigger house with six bedrooms. You would think that meant his kids would most definitely be getting their own spaces, right? Well, not exactly.
When their mother went to see the new place, she asked him which rooms would belong to his kids.
But, he and his wife’s current plan is to have one bedroom for them, one for a nursery, two offices, and two “guest rooms,” meaning that even though the kids could stay in them, they would not be catered to them.
Her sister-in-law started getting defensive about the rooms, saying that she needed to have designated places for when her family members occasionally visit.
Their mom started getting angry, telling her brother that his kids needed their own space. Although he agreed, a big argument ensued between everyone.
“I will be seeing them in a few days, and this has been eating at me,” she explained. “I love all my nieces and nephews, and this feels like some of them are being treated like second-class citizens in their parent’s home. Generally speaking, I think it’s my brother’s job to ensure the kids are getting the treatment they deserve. “
She wants to confront her brother about this again but doesn’t want to worsen the drama.
