Her Friend Called Her Out For Trying To Look Good At Prom And Claimed She Was Going To Tempt Her Friend’s Boyfriend

This girl is 16-years-old and will be attending prom at her high school this year. Recently, she also finally received her prom dress and all of her jewelry in the mail.
So, she was naturally beyond excited and immediately wanted to FaceTime one of her closest friends– who is also 16– to get their opinion.
As soon as her friend saw what she was wearing, though, her friend had just started badmouthing her outfit.
“Those nails are ugly, and that dress makes you look fat,” her friend told her.
Now, not only were those comments extremely hurtful, but she was also genuinely confused.
Apparently, earlier that same day, her friend had shared a prospective prom dress in their group chat which she realized looked almost identical to hers. It was just in a different color.
Then, her friend even asked if they would be allowed to get the dress because they thought it was cute!
So, why her friend thought her prom dress was ugly just really did not make sense to her.
On top of that, her friend claimed that her jewelry just looked cheap and said that one specific pearl necklace looked like it had been purchased from a website.

She was not wearing any “cheap” jewelry, though, and informed her friend that the pearl necklace was actually authentic. In fact, it had been gifted to her by her dad, and she only ever wore it on special occasions.
At that point, her friend was likely caught off guard– because her friend started stumbling over words and trying to defend herself. Eventually, her friend even tried to claim that “wasn’t what they meant” and actually accused her of being crazy!
Shortly after her friend made that comment, she was done talking and decided to hang up the FaceTime call.
“But not before she made some snarky comment about how I would look so good that she and our friends would have to beat their dates off of me,” she recalled.
She found that remark pretty bizarre, too, and wound up just awkwardly laughing it off. Her friend wasn’t laughing, though.
Anyway, the following day, she went to school as usual. And when she arrived on campus, she decided to visit her friend’s car. That way, they could chill inside and finish up their makeup before going to class.
After the girls chatted for a little while, though, her friend brought up prom again. Then, her friend reportedly did the “hey girlie, no offense…” thing and totally insulted her.
More specifically, her friend claimed that it was really rude and trashy of her to show up to prom looking so good when she knew that all of the other girls in their friend group were bringing dates.
“And how I obviously wasn’t bringing a date so I could get with their boyfriends,” she added. Yikes!
She was seriously shocked by that, too, and legitimately gasped before starting to cry. Afterward, she proceeded to ask why her friend ever thought she would do such a thing.
Now, for context, her friend’s boyfriend has apparently cheated before. And even though everyone told her friend to just dump the guy, the pair stayed together.
So, her friend ultimately revealed how they just didn’t trust her boyfriend and believed she should not “try to tempt him more” with her outfit at prom!
On top of that, her friend also claimed it was “obvious” that she had a crush on their boyfriend because she says hello to him whenever he’s on the phone with her friend.
Anyway, after her friend said all of these horrible things, she ended up leaving their car and going to cry inside her own car.
Ever since then, though, she has been feeling really conflicted.
“I see how it could look like I wanted to be the prettiest in the group, but I just wanted to look good at my first prom,” she vented.
So, she’s been left wondering whether her friend is right and if she should dial down her look for prom.
Is it her responsibility not to “tempt” her friend’s boyfriend? Should she have to tone herself down due to other people’s insecurities? If you were in her shoes, would you change your outfit? Or would you wear whatever you want?
