“Truth be told, I would probably love being a janitor,” she revealed.
That’s why she decided to share her potential career plan with her mom, too. But her mom apparently just laughed at her and said, “My daughter, a janitor.”
And honestly, she thinks it’s a shame that her mom laughed at her and practically the entire janitorial profession. After all, she believes every man-made place would be nothing if it weren’t for janitors always keeping them clean.
Plus, she feels like being a janitor is an honorable career that would genuinely make her life more enjoyable and peaceful.
“Just me cleaning my little heart out,” she said.
Still, her parents really hoped she would get a job that was more “honored” in society. Quite frankly, though, she really does not care.
She knows that she might not ever be as “honored” or rich as her sister. And she realizes that when people ask her parents what their youngest daughter does, they might begrudgingly say, “She’s a janitor.” Or, her parents might choose to just lie through their teeth. But honestly, that doesn’t matter to her.
“I can’t wait to spend all day cleaning,” she admitted.
Do you agree that janitors serve critical roles in our society? Should she care about things like status, “honor,” or her parents’ opinions? If you were in her shoes, would you go after what you enjoy?
