This fifty-five-year-old woman has three children, and her two daughters are doing great in life. The oldest just got married to a wonderful guy, and her youngest is currently in graduate school overseas.

Unfortunately, though, her son Carlos is still acting like a child at twenty-five years old.

According to her, Carlos has been a hot-headed handful his entire life. He got married when he was just twenty to a woman who already had a three-year-old daughter. Then, Carlos and his wife went on to have another child, who is now two.

Then, COVID-19 hit and really caused Carlos a lot of stress– especially because his job requires him to travel constantly, so he is always gone for two weeks at a time every month.

And during that time, he made a massive mistake that totally blew up his marriage.

“Carlos cheated on his wife with a coworker. I am not judging him; I am not perfect. But he chose to leave his wife and children,” she explained.

In fact, her son not only left his family, but he moved back home with her– his mother. And at first, she was pretty understanding, given the circumstances.

After all, Carlos is only home for about two weeks each month, so she knew it did not really make sense for him to rent an apartment. However, once Carlos actually moved back in, he apparently acted like a total jerk by bringing the family dog with him.

Carlos and his ex-wife had a border collie that the children grew up with and loved. Their home was perfect for the breed– which has a lot of energy– since there was a huge yard and a ton of walking trails nearby.

But, she believes Carlos took the dog away from his ex-wife and children just to punish his ex. And not only is it immature, but it is a total inconvenience for her.

First of all, she lives in a downtown apartment without a lot of space. And even though she is allowed a dog, it would have to be a breed that is small and non-shedding, like a Maltese.

Second, her son is irresponsible and does not take care of the dog at all. So, she has been left walking and brushing the dog constantly while Carlos just uses the pup as leverage to get his ex back.

But, her final straw was just this past month. Carlos had been away on another work trip for two weeks and left her alone with the dog.

Then, he flew home for only one day before flying back out for a vacation with his new girlfriend.

And once he left, she was totally pissed. She realized that Carlos spends zero time with the dog and will not take any accountability for its care.

So, she decided to call up her daughter-in-law and see if they wanted the dog back.

“My daughter-in-law almost cried with joy. I packed up everything that belonged to the dog and took him over there. My grandchildren were ecstatic,” she recalled.

Still, though, she had to deal with her son’s wrath after he returned from vacation.

After Carlos arrived home, he began asking where the dog had gone. So, she told her son the truth, and he completely freaked out.

And since then, she has been accused of being a total jerk for giving away his pet. On top of that, she told Carlos that if he tried to get the dog back, it would no longer be welcome in her home– which only pissed off Carlos even more.

So now, she has been left wondering if giving her daughter-in-law and grandchildren the dog back was the right thing to do or not.

Do you think Carlos deserves to have the dog or not? Do you think she did what was best for the dog’s care and happiness? If not, what would you have done in this situation?
