Then, she claimed that Lucy would never be her mom and revealed how the engagement ring would just go to waste if it was left for her.
“I also told Lucy to give it to her own daughter and stop being such an uncaring mom to her,” she added.
While it felt good to tell her stepmother off, though, her father was seriously disappointed. He claimed it wasn’t right for her to pile everything on Lucy like that. Plus, he asked why she was so angry about the engagement ring in the first place.
At that point, she tried to explain how nobody wanted her to have the ring except Lucy. Yet, due to her stepmother’s actions, she was the one viewed as selfish even though she did not want it.
Still, her father believed that she owed her stepmother an apology. Plus, her dad claimed she needed to give Lucy a chance since he was sick and tired of having a fractured family. Quite frankly, though, she basically wound up telling her father that the state of their family was his fault.
“I told him that’s what you get when two fractured grieving families get forced on each other,” she said.
So now, even though she stands by her own opinion, she’s still been left wondering whether screaming at her stepmother about the engagement ring was the wrong thing to do.
Why do you think Lucy wants to give her the engagement ring so badly instead of Maisie? Doesn’t it make sense for Maisie to get the ring? Did she have a right to scream at her stepmother since she got dragged into unnecessary drama? How would you have reacted in this situation?
