She kindly explained to the mom that all the basketballs at the community center were deflated, but they brought their own pump to fix them. She also told the mom she was welcome to use it and fix the one her kids were using.
Instead of being thankful and using the pump, the mom scoffed and asked, “I supposed you’re not even going to inflate it for us?”
She was taken aback by this lady’s rudeness and told her she not only wasn’t going to pump it for her, but she also changed her mind and wouldn’t allow her to use the pump at all.
“I turned back to my boyfriend, and we started playing again, ignoring her stammering about how rude we were,” she remembered.
“The kids were watching the whole time and didn’t say a word. They started playing again, too, until the mom got frustrated with us ignoring her, took them, and left.”
Although she felt bad for the kids, she felt no sympathy for their rude mom. However, when she continued playing with her boyfriend, he mentioned that she had gone too far and should have let the mom use their pump for the kids’ sake.
“While I do feel bad for them, I wasn’t going to let their entitled mother steamroll me,” she added.
Should she have let the mom use the air pump?
