However, it wasn’t until later that he learned her full name and realized she was the one who spread all those rumors in high school.
Carter said he did confront Annika about her past, but she claimed not to remember any of it. So, he chose to let it go because he really liked her. Then, he asked her if she’d be nice to Annika because she’s a good person.
“I just told him I needed a moment to myself to process everything,” she said. “When I eventually went back to the party, I decided I would ignore her. I didn’t say anything rude; I just didn’t talk to her or acknowledge her. She didn’t talk to me or acknowledge me either.”
Things took a turn when they all sat down to eat. Her aunt asked her in front of everyone how she felt about her brother getting married. She tried to avoid answering the question and change the subject, but her aunt kept pushing her to answer.
Eventually, she snapped and said, “I actually don’t feel great about it, considering his future wife bullied me and never apologized.”
It was quite a shocking moment, and everyone turned to Annika, who eventually left the room crying. Carter ran after her, and they left the party early. Later, Carter called her and told her she was horrible for embarrassing Annika in front of their family and that she was acting petty.
Then, he told her she needed to apologize to Annika. She refused and told him that Annika was the one who should be apologizing for what she did in the past. Carter still insists Annika doesn’t remember what happened, but she highly doubts that.
