She Threatened To Leave Her Husband Unless He Puts His Mom In A Nursing Home, So Now He Wants A Divorce

This 28-year-old woman has been married to her husband, who is 31, for four years. But, nine months ago, her mother-in-law became sick and started hallucinating– forcing her and her husband to take her mother-in-law in.
And ever since then, she has not been able to deal with this living arrangement– which is why her husband now wants a divorce.
“The reason is because I told him that I had enough. But I love my husband with all of my heart, and I don’t want a divorce,” she admitted.
Nevertheless, she claims that her mother-in-law is simply out of her mind. Now that her mother-in-law is very old and ill, it is difficult to distinguish what is “right” and what is “wrong.”
That’s why, once her mother-in-law’s condition began to worsen, her husband took his mom in.
But her husband does have four other brothers who all refused to take care of their own mother. In fact, they even told her husband to just bring his mom to a nursing home since they all have their own lives now and cannot manage to help with caretaking.
Honestly, she tried to tell her husband that perhaps his brothers were right, too, and that they should bring her mother-in-law to a nursing home. After all, she pointed out how professionals might take better care of her mother-in-law.
However, her husband could not have been more opposed to that idea.
“That woman is my mother, and I will not let her go through the humiliation of other people taking care of her in her most vulnerable moments. I’ll take care of her until she passes away,” her husband said.

At the beginning of their relationship, she admitted to really liking how devoted her husband was to his mom, too. But as time went on, the whole situation just became exhausting.
Apparently, her mother-in-law will randomly scream in the middle of the night and wet the bed– which she has to clean every single time. Her mother-in-law also calls her stupid and tells her to shut up.
“And one time, my mother-in-law got out of the house and started screaming for help and said, ‘This woman is starving me to death,'” she added.
But she claims that she gives her mother-in-law anything that is ever asked for. So, while her husband does help out a lot with the care of his mom, she is just sick and tired of it.
She is over giving baths and getting called mean names. Quite frankly, she just does not feel like it is her job to tend to her mother-in-law.
“I know she’s my husband’s mom, but it is not my responsibility to take care of her,” she said.
That’s why she wound up telling her husband that she was leaving their home and going to stay with her own mother. And when her husband asked why, she was finally honest.
She admitted to having enough of the situation and pointed out how it has been months of caring for her mother-in-law. Then, she told her husband that he either had to take his mom to a nursing home or else she was never returning home.
To her surprise, though, her husband just looked at her with a disgusted expression on his face– as if she had just cheated on him. Afterward, he told her that she could do whatever she wanted but refused to bring his mom to a nursing home.
“You want to leave, then leave. If you wanna stay, then stay. I’m not gonna force you to do anything,” her husband told her.
So, she ultimately left her house and has not been able to stop crying ever since. And about a week after she left, her husband reached out and told her that he wanted a divorce.
But she really does not want to get a divorce because, apparently, she still seriously loves her husband. That’s why she’s been left wondering if there is any hope for their marriage and, if so, how to fix it.
Can you understand why her husband wants to be there for his mom during this tough time in her life? At the same time, does she have a right not to want to care for her mother-in-law anymore? Does it sound like they can find a middle ground on this issue or not? Do you think their marriage is over or salvageable?
