His Daughter Made Fun Of His Injured Stepson, So Now He No Longer Wants To Pay For Her To Go To College

This 44-year-old man was widowed when his first wife passed away, and his second 42-year-old wife also happens to be a widow.
His wife has a 19-year-old son from her first marriage, and he has a 17-year-old daughter from his first marriage.
He and his wife dated for 5 years and then got married 3 years ago, and their children were introduced to one another at the beginning of their relationship.
His daughter and his wife’s son never had any major problems or issues as they learned to get to know one another.
Now, his stepson was an extremely talented basketball player, and since he used to play in college, he ended up coaching him.
His stepson was good enough to play Division 1 basketball, and he wound up getting several scholarship offers to play in college.
He works as a pharmacist, and his wife is a controller, so they make excellent money but aren’t exactly rich.
When his stepson got offers for scholarships, he realized that they would have enough money to cover the cost of his daughter going to college in full, and none of their kids would graduate with student loan debt.
He then ended up telling his daughter about all of this, which he now says was a giant mistake.

Anyway, back to his stepson: last year, he attempted to ride someone’s motorcycle without any experience or training, and he ended up getting into a serious crash.
“He lost part of his hand and foot, not life-threatening, but basketball ending,” he explained.
“This happened last year, and my son has been in a deep depression that we’re desperately trying to bring him out of, but he feels like his entire identity got ripped away in the blink of an eye.”
His stepson is getting counseling and has even been prescribed medications, but none of that is helping at all.
Then, two weeks ago, he was in his room trying to find something when he overheard his daughter chatting with her friends on the phone about going to college.
His daughter began saying that she can’t wait to leave for college because she’s sick and tired of hearing her stepbrother cry every single day before admitting she thought his hand looked gross.
He had no clue that his daughter felt like that about his stepson, and he then heard her say a couple of more nasty things to her friends, which made him livid.
“I stormed into her room, took her phone, laptop, car keys, and TV out of her room,” he said.
“I told her she should be ashamed of how she’s talking about her brother, and he might do something permanent if he heard you talking about him like that.”
He then told his daughter he’s no longer paying for her to go to college. Later on, when his wife returned home, he filled her in.
She is proud that he stuck up for his stepson, but she thinks it’s harsh for him to not pay for his daughter to go to college, as they can afford to do it.
He’s left wondering if it would be wrong of him to not pay for his daughter’s college education after the terrible things she said about his stepson.
