If you caught your spouse raving to their friend about the person they used to hook up with nearly 20 years ago, while wishing you were dead, how would you feel?

This 40-year-old man caught his 41-year-old wife texting her friend about some guy she hooked up with 18 years ago, and she was gushing about how absolutely amazing this man is (though she did say his only downside is his lack of intelligence).

His wife gave her friend details about what this guy is doing now and sent her recent photos of him. The two of them chatted about how hot this man still is, but he has lost a bit of his looks over the years.

“It also turns out she follows this guy on Instagram and has liked all of his posts for the past decade, since we have been married, even ones where it is just him alone in the photo posing (aka not liking just his family photos),” he explained.

“He doesn’t like any of her posts and does not interact with her at all. Contrast this message speaking fondly about this guy from 18 years ago with ones she sends about me, complaining about stupid minor things like leaving stuff on the counter.”

“One message the friend sent even joked about whether she wishes their husbands were dead, and my wife responded that she ‘used to, but then it almost happened, and I’m scared I might unlock a weird paranormal power if I wish it’ (I had a near-death experience a few years ago).”

He would love for his wife to think that he’s this amazing man instead of having her put him down and complain about him to her friend.

Uncovering these messages has really made his self-esteem take a hit. He wishes he could speak to his wife about the texts, but he’s not sure what to say, considering he shouldn’t have been snooping through her messages in the first place.

He’s left wondering how he can discuss what he read with his wife because it is bothering him so much.

Look, the reminiscing is bad enough, but what about the fact that she used to wish he was dead? That’s even more upsetting to me than her talking about how perfect some man she used to know two decades ago is.

To cut to the chase here, his wife obviously feels that she settled by marrying him, and that’s sad. This is totally divorce-worthy, so I don’t think he should confront her at all or bother having a conversation; he should call a lawyer and serve her with divorce papers.

What advice do you have for him?
