She Doesn’t Want Her Mother-In-Law To Attend Her Baby Shower Because Her Mother-In-Law Has A Friend Who Can’t Get Pregnant And Accused Her “Bad Vibes” Of Being The Reason

Sadly, this 25-year-old’s mother-in-law, 46, has struggled a lot throughout her life.

Growing up and during her marriage, she dealt with a lot of hurdles that she persevered through. Because of this, she is closer to her friends than her own family.

Due to this, her mother-in-law prioritized her friends over her children.

When one of her mother-in-law’s friends needed somewhere to stay for a period of what ended up being more than three months, she forced her children to sleep somewhere else so that her friend could have their bedroom.

A week before her mother-in-law’s daughter’s extravagant wedding, she invited friends without asking her daughter if it was okay. Some of the friends she invited without approval attended the wedding, ate the food that was provided, and had free drinks.

Not long ago, one of her mother-in-law’s friends, Maria, developed a close bond with the family.

“She does everything with her, and Maria comes to every family event. Last year, Maria decided she wanted to have children before it was too late. My mother-in-law decided to help her with her IVF journey. I’m pretty sure she helped fund it, along with attending all the appointments. The potential baby became all they would talk about. They asked us to constantly send prayers, asked my sister-in-law and her husband if they wanted to be godparents, talked about baby names, and how they really wanted a boy,” she said.

The constant talk of Maria’s IVF bothered her husband and all of his siblings, and eventually, they detested her doing IVF.

When Maria tried IVF the first time, it didn’t work, and while she was heartbroken, she was hopeful for positive results on another try.

“About two months after the failed treatment, my husband, 27, and I found out we were pregnant. When we announced it to our immediate families, everyone seemed genuinely happy for us. This would be the first grandchild on both sides. However, things started to get a little funky when we announced the gender of our child several weeks later. Upon hearing that our child would be a boy, my mother-in-law seemed kind of put off. She kept insisting that we were having a girl and that she even had a dream about it,” she explained.

But since she had genetic testing done, it was clearly not inaccurate. Plus, a later ultrasound confirmed the gender.

Apparently, because Maria had hoped to have a boy, they were upset that she was the one having the “‘first boy’ of the family.” But Maria isn’t even a member of the family in the first place.

Not long after this, Maria and her mother-in-law planned to do IVF for a second time, but it failed again.

“After finding this out, my mother-in-law accused us and her other children of being the reason Maria wasn’t getting pregnant. She said we were basically sending ‘bad vibes’ and wishing for her not to have a baby,” she shared.

As the argument worsened, her husband got tears in his eyes and said that he didn’t want his mother to be in the delivery room for the birth of their son like they’d originally been planning.

A couple of days after the fight, her mother called to discuss her upcoming baby shower. Her family lives quite a distance and in a different state, and she and her husband live near his family.

Because of this, she and her husband decided to have two baby showers. For her family’s baby shower, she would be traveling to the state her family lives in.

Unfortunately, her husband wasn’t able to get time off of work for her family’s baby shower. As a kind gesture, his sister said that she could come with her so that she wasn’t traveling by herself.

When her husband found out his sister offered to go, he told her that she should extend the invitation to his entire family.

In response, she said that she didn’t want his mother-in-law to be invited, and he was angry. Her husband claimed that it was impolite of her to leave his mother out.

She attempted to let her husband know her reasoning, which was that his mother was too dramatic, and she knew that if his mother was invited, Maria would come with her.

But her husband doubled down on his view, saying that she would be a jerk if she didn’t invite his mother.

What would you do if you were in her shoes?
