He Bought His Girlfriend A Rolex, And When She Refused To Wear It, He Went To Their Anniversary Dinner Alone

He assumed that his girlfriend would be thrilled about the watch. However, she didn’t seem too happy with the gift.

She smiled and thanked him but put the new watch right back in the bag and continued to wear her old one. After that, she asked him if he was ready to head to the restaurant for their date.

“I told her I was ready, but I was confused why she wasn’t putting the watch on,” he shared. “I asked her, and she explained that her current watch was a gift from her late mother, who passed away last month.”

“I told her I understood that it was special to her, but she could wear it any other time, and I had just spent my entire bonus on this gift, and I was looking forward to seeing her wear it to my favorite restaurant on our anniversary. I thought it would make her feel like she belongs.”

At this, his girlfriend said she’d still prefer to wear her mother’s watch. They argued about this, and he didn’t drop the subject. He told her that he was “disappointed” because he’d spent time picking out the perfect gift and spent a lot of money on it. Despite what he said, she wouldn’t wear the new watch.

Then, he told his girlfriend that he was “ruining” their anniversary and that if she didn’t wear the watch he bought her, he was going to dinner alone.

She said that he was being irrational, and he responded that he’d wanted her to appreciate the gift he’d bought for her.

In his opinion, she was behaving “like a brat,” and she made him feel “unappreciated and disrespected.”

In the end, he went to dinner by himself. Before leaving his house for the restaurant, he told his girlfriend that he’d get her an Uber home, and he told her to text him when she felt ready to tell him she was sorry. Now, he hadn’t heard from his girlfriend for two weeks.

Do you think he was wrong to buy his girlfriend the Rolex watch and go to the restaurant alone when she refused to wear it?
