This guy and his ex-girlfriend first started dating back when they were in college, and he admits that, at the time, he was a pretty awkward young man. Nonetheless, he was really in love with his ex, and he did everything possible to make their relationship work.
“I always went above and beyond for her as much as I could,” he recalled.
“Even as a broke college student, I would give her my last just to make her happy. I thought we would last forever, honestly.”
In hindsight, though, he laughs at himself now– because his ex wound up cheating on him and forcing their relationship to end. To make matters even worse, she didn’t just hook up with some stranger, either. Instead, his ex actually slept with one of his old friends.
So, as you can probably imagine, the breakup left him really heartbroken. He couldn’t even think about seeing anyone else for a while, which is why he decided to take a break from dating.
At the same time, he was able to start healing by pouring more time and energy into other areas of his life. For instance, his career in tech and other hobbies.
Now that he’s gotten over what happened with his ex, though, she recently came out of the woodwork and suddenly wants to get back together with him!
In fact, his ex randomly ran into him one day, claimed that she just wanted to “catch up,” and started talking about how much she regretted cheating on him and sacrificing their relationship. Then, she even began begging him to get back together!
He couldn’t believe it, either, and actually just laughed at the thought before telling his ex to leave him alone.
“I said that I was not interested in catching up and that I had to go,” he said.
Ever since he walked away from her, though, his ex hasn’t stopped blowing up his DMs on both Facebook and Instagram. She’s upset that he “laughed at her love” for him and keeps talking about how much she misses them being together.
He has since told his friends about everything that happened, too, but to his total surprise, they actually believe that he should give his ex a chance.
“My buddies keep telling me I should just take her back and start a family like how I’ve wanted while I’m still in my early thirties since I’m getting older,” he revealed.
Despite that, he would genuinely rather be alone than have a partner whom he considers “bad company.”
“Don’t get me wrong: I’d love to finally start a family of my own. But I don’t want to do that with the wrong woman,” he vented.
Still, his friends are now actually accusing him of being a jerk for not just forgiving his ex-girlfriend– especially with the clock ticking on his family plans.
That’s why he’s been left wondering if laughing at his ex and refusing to take her back was really the wrong move.
