Have you ever seen someone purposefully order a lot of food and drinks at a restaurant because they know someone else will pay the bill?

One woman recently confronted her cousin’s fiancé, who ordered himself some extra, very expensive food during a special family dinner her distant relatives were paying for.

She’s 34, and her family lives in Canada, but they’re of Chinese descent. She’s part of a large family and still gets the opportunity to visit her cousins.

However, her aunt and uncle, Gloria and Aaron, live in China and recently visited for the first time in four years. It was a very special occasion since they had a three-year-old son that everyone got to meet for the first time.

Aaron and Gloria very kindly hosted a large Chinese banquet dinner for their family of 16 at a Michelin-starred restaurant.

“Dinner is served family style [with an] 11-course set menu ordered in advance,” she explained.

“My cousin, Monica, brought her fiancé, Todd, who was not initially invited. So we ended up being 17 guests.”

“This wasn’t a huge deal, just a minor oversight. There was plenty of room and food to go around. Two dinner sets were ordered, enough food for 20 people. We had four Peking ducks, and everyone got a generous serving of five to seven wraps each.”

In the middle of the meal, another Peking duck, which cost $280, was brought to the table. Her aunt Gloria looked confused until Todd announced that he had ordered himself another duck, as that was the main thing he wanted to fill up on.
