He Kicked His Teen Son Out Of The House And Sent Him To Live Somewhere Else After Finding Out He Cheated On His Girlfriend

This 40-year-old man is a single dad to his 16-year-old son J, and J’s mom is not part of their lives.
J’s mom vanished one day when J was 4, and ever since then, he has done his absolute best to be a good dad to J.
J is not only his son; he’s also his best friend, which means he does struggle with being authoritative with his son. Thankfully, J is a great kid, so he never has had to really intervene and parent him a lot. J is intelligent, caring, and consistent.
Two years ago, J started dating a lovely girl named E, and E is super sweet and very respectful, so he likes her a lot.
A couple of weeks ago, J and E were in the living room when he overheard them getting into a very intense disagreement.
E actually asked him to give her a ride home, and before he did that, he asked J if everything was alright.
J was very irritated and mentioned having some space from E was the best thing at that moment, so he drove E home.
When he got back from doing that, he sat down with J, who said they got into a pretty normal argument that couples engage in from time to time. J promised to speak to E when he was in a better mood, which he thought sounded like a good idea.
Then, three days ago, J let him know he had invited a friend over, which was alright with him. He took a nap, as he was exhausted from working overtime, and when he woke up, he was shocked to hear a girl’s voice coming from downstairs.

“I come downstairs to J kissing an unfamiliar girl,” he explained. “I asked J if he could help me with something quickly.”
“He says sure, and we head to the garage. I close the door and ask who that is. J says she’s “Just a friend.” I ask what’s going on with E.”
J responded that perhaps his behavior will make E finally act right. He got extremely upset with J, and he pointed out that he raised him better than to cheat on his girlfriend and he has to know what he’s doing is incredibly wrong.
He then said if J didn’t own up and tell E he cheated, he would do it for him. J shrugged his shoulders and went back to his friend.
So, he called E’s dad to fill him in, and E wound up calling J to dump him. After that, J came up to him, clearly furious that he told E the truth.
“…I tell him to accept responsibility, he refuses; I yell [at] him to pack his stuff and that until he can learn he owes E an apology and accept responsibility, he will be staying with his aunt,” he said.
“I take his car keys, my sister picks him up, and he leaves [angry]. It’s been 3 days, and my sister tells me he’s still angry, and J refuses to reach out to me.”
He’s left wondering if it was wrong of him to kick his son out and send him to live with his aunt after finding out that he was cheating on his girlfriend.
