His New Neighbor Said Their Dog Was Vegan, But He Thought The Pup Looked Miserable, So He’s Been Secretly Throwing Steak, Chicken, And Eggs Into His Neighbor’s Yard For The Past Month
Ever since the vegan diet became more mainstream during the 2010s, the debate over whether or not this lifestyle choice is healthy has raged on in both pop culture and medical labs.
Approximately 1.62 million people in the United States are vegan, and several studies have shown that veganism is associated with a lower incidence of obesity. Additionally, the diet has been revered for its positive impact on climate change by requiring less land and fewer resources to produce plant-based foods.
But have you ever heard of putting your pet on a vegan diet, and would you ever consider going that far?
Dogs are omnivores, meaning that they eat both meat and plant products. Still, research is mixed on whether or not canines should be placed on fully plant-based diets.
Moreover, many pet owners find it hard to believe that a dog would really be happy without any meat in their lives.
One man can relate and has been struggling with the idea of veganism in dogs ever since he and his family got a new next door neighbor.
Now, after they first met, he and his neighbor realized that they both had pet dogs.
“So we initially got on quite well and chatted on our morning walks,” he said.
Eventually, though, he found out that his neighbor’s dog was actually vegan. He couldn’t believe it, either, and flat-out asked if that kind of diet was really a good idea for a canine.

“My neighbor got quite defensive about it and basically said I was ignorant,” he recalled.
“His dog looked miserable.”
So, for the past month, he decided to take matters into his own hands. More specifically, he started throwing scraps of steak, chicken, and eggs into his neighbor’s yard when their family was at work.
“And the dog is now looking a lot healthier and happier,” he admitted.
However, when he told one of his friends about the situation, they actually accused him of going “too far” and said he needed to stop.
“But how the heck can a dog be vegan!” he vented.
Still, ever since getting pushback from his friend, he’s been left wondering if secretly feeding steak to his neighbor’s vegan dog was really so out of line or not.
