His Parents Asked Him For $250,000 So They Could Downsize And Buy A New Home, But He Refused To Hand Over The Funds, And His Mom Is Making Him Feel Guilty About It

Now, he admitted that, for his mom’s birthdays, he would only gift her $50. However, he tried to help his parents out in other ways – like taking them out to dinner each month – despite hating the get-togethers.

In his mind, his parents are just “extremely negative people” who are very hard to be around.

“[They’re] always bickering and just overall will bring your happiness level down for a day or two… always talking to me about divorce,” he explained.

“But I do it because they’re my parents.”

He also admitted how, up until he started making good money, he just felt like a “burden” to his parents.

Still, ever since declining to give them $250,000, he can’t help but wonder if he was in the wrong and if he really should be more generous with his money.

Why do you think his parents felt comfortable asking for so much money? Do you agree that it’d be smarter for his parents to sell their current house and use the profit to buy a new one? How would you have reacted in his shoes?
