This 30-year-old woman and her best friend, Sarah, 29, have been close since they were young. They’ve supported one another through life’s ups and downs. Recently, she discovered new information about Sarah that made her rethink everything.
Sarah has been dating her fiancé, John, 32, for five years. They’d been wedding planning, and their relationship looked wonderful to everyone around them. However, one day, she was perusing social media and came across a photo that stunned her.
“It was a photo of Sarah cozying up to a man who was definitely not John. Shocked and confused, I tried to brush it off as a misunderstanding,” she said.
Throughout the following several weeks, Sarah started to pull away from her, and it seemed like she was hiding something.
She worried that something wasn’t right, and when she couldn’t get rid of the nagging feeling within her, she began to investigate.
“What I uncovered left me torn between loyalty to my best friend and doing what I felt was right. I discovered that Sarah was indeed having an affair with her co-worker, Mark, 30,” she explained.
Sarah and Mark had been hooking up for nearly a year, and John had no idea. She was crushed, and the situation was so outrageous that she felt it wasn’t real. It was as if she was a character in a soap opera.
After learning that Sarah was cheating on John, she felt conflicted. She wanted to tell Sarah she knew and express how horrible it was for her to be engaging in an affair.
At the same time, she didn’t want Sarah to feel like she wasn’t a loyal friend or that she was trying to destroy their friendship. She thought it over for a while and finally thought it was best to talk with Sarah.
