While there are a lot of people who roll their eyes and sigh when they hear the words “destination wedding,” others can’t wait until they get to attend a fun wedding in a different spot in the world.

If you’ve been invited to a destination wedding and aren’t thrilled about it, try and look on the bright side instead! Yes, destination weddings can be expensive and take a lot of time out of your schedule, but they can also be a lot of fun.

Another silver lining about destination weddings is that they are a great excuse to put together a killer wedding look.

If you’re on the guest list for a destination wedding, here is a guide for what to pack and wear on the big day!

First things first, without worrying about the specifics of the venue, check to see if the wedding invitation or the bride and groom have laid out a dress code.

Most destination weddings are in beachy, warm, and more casual settings, but you can never know for sure what your hosts will want you to wear.

If it is a casual or semi-casual wedding on a beach, it’s time to look at maxi dresses, midi sundresses, and anything flowy. If the event is semi-formal or calls for cocktail attire, steer towards dresses or jumpsuits that are a bit more dressy but still comfortable.

If the destination wedding does call for black tie attire, it’s likely because it’ll be in a beautiful church or historical venue. In that case, wear what you would traditionally wear to a black tie event, like a nice evening gown or dressy pantsuit.

Regarding accessories, those definitely change based on the location and vibe.
