Ever since 2021, this 28-year-old woman and her 31-year-old husband have been renting from her in-laws.

She and her husband live in a doublewide built in the 80s that his parents own. Due to the fact that their house is hardly fancy, and her husband is currently in medical school, they pay essentially nothing in rent.

The first year they lived there, her in-laws only charged them $400 in rent. She did make some improvements to the home, such as putting down new floors and ripping out a blue colored carpet, adding a deck, tiling, installing a sprinkler system, and redoing the countertops and kitchen cabinets.

The next year, they agreed to pay $500 a month, since the air conditioning unit needed to be replaced.

“We’ve made many improvements to this home, in-part because we could afford to due to the low rent,” she explained.

“As a side-note: my income fully supports our family while my husband is in medical school. He takes out student loans for his tuition and gas money, and I pay for our car-insurance, car loans, rent, groceries, etc.”

“My husband is currently finishing up his third year of medical school and will be taking his COMLEX Level 2 this July.”

Next summer, her husband will be accepted into a residency program, and then they will find out where they will be moving to.

It’s extremely likely that they will need to relocate to a completely new state, and because of that, they thought it would be great to have a baby now while they’re still close to their families.
