Not wanting to miss this opportunity, she and Greg hoped they could have their tiny wedding, use their parents’ money to pay for their home, and then use their own money to pay for their larger wedding at a later date.
However, once she and Greg revealed their plan to their families, they didn’t get good feedback.
“Both sides said the money is just for a wedding and that if we wanted a house, [we should] save up for it like they did,” she recalled.
“They weren’t that mean about it, but that’s basically what they said. Greg [and I] had a big argument with them, but their minds were set. We’re both upset and feel like they’re not seeing our side in this, but on the other hand, it is their money, and maybe we’re acting like babies.”
Should she and Greg feel bad for wanting to use their parents’ wedding money for a house, or are their parents being unreasonable?
