He confronted his daughter after this incident, telling her he thought her boyfriend’s behavior was pretty rude, but his daughter insisted that she really liked him and that she didn’t mind his food habits.
A few days ago, his daughter sat him down to inform him that her boyfriend actually has an issue eating in front of other people.
She said he has Deipnophobia, which is an anxiety disorder that can cause people to feel anxious and sometimes ill when eating in public or in front of others.
While he understood that his daughter’s boyfriend had an issue, he still didn’t want him around while their family was eating, so he told his daughter that her boyfriend didn’t need to be with them during meals.
“It makes me uncomfortable eating in front of someone who isn’t eating with us,” he added.
“Now my daughter is mad that I’m ‘discriminating against his disability’ and said I wouldn’t treat someone else like that if they have a disability.”
Was he wrong to tell his daughter not to bring her during family meals?
