Her boyfriend smiled but seemed nervous when she told him they needed to talk.
Later that evening, when they got home and could speak privately, she sat her boyfriend down and told him she wasn’t sure if she was ready for marriage, but said yes to his proposal so he wouldn’t feel embarrassed in public.
She also admitted that she was a bit hurt he didn’t talk to her about getting married soon beforehand and assumed she’d say yes.
Then, she tried making a compromise and said they could get engaged now and stay engaged for a few years until they were both ready to get married.
However, her boyfriend wasn’t happy with that response, and he got angry, thinking his proposal was “fake.”
