When you’re a nanny, you get to have a front-row seat to all the cuteness, chaos, and cluelessness that comes with parenting. One thing that stands out the most is how some dads don’t know the first thing about their own children.

Back when TikToker @super0365 used to be a nanny, she worked for this one family for a while, so she knew their routines well.

Once, the mother had to go on a work trip for a week, leaving the father to hold down the fort.

All he needed to do was follow the well-oiled machine that had already been set up. However, he never would’ve been able to figure it out if it weren’t for his nanny.

On the first morning, he called her to ask which school his kids attended because he had no idea.

It was pretty shocking to her, and it quickly became clear that while the mom was juggling work, parenting, and her own personal life, the dad had been living in an entirely different universe—one where he was not very involved as a parent.

Apparently, his idea of parenting was occasionally tossing a ball around in the backyard and buying birthday presents. TikToker @super0365 also pointed out that he was a grown adult of 43 years old.

Certainly, he was old enough to know important information about his kids.

The story struck a nerve with many other nannies and childcare workers. They flooded the comments section with details of their most memorable experiences with incompetent parents.

“Girl, I had one family where the dad sent his son into anaphylactic shock because he fed him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and he didn’t know he was allergic to peanuts. Then, to top it off, he didn’t know where the baby’s EpiPen was. If I wasn’t there, that baby would’ve been gone,” commented one person.

“The dad of mine didn’t know one of his kids had been on a five-day out-of-state field trip. How do you not realize your kid was gone all of last week?!?!” exclaimed another.

“I was an au pair, and the mom went out for the night. Dad didn’t know how to get the baby to sleep (he was rocking her with the light on and the TV blasting. Had to let him know his daughter did not like that),” stated a third.
