If you think small-town cops are out there busting drug rings and solving high-speed chases like they do on television, you’re in for a rude awakening.
In reality, their biggest emergency of the week might be a dispute over farm animals. They still wear the badge and carry a gun, but in these towns, the calls are more about a suspicious-looking goat.
When TikToker Kristen (@kris10mc22) signed up to be a cop, she thought she would be solving crimes and catching bad guys.
But the calls she takes mostly have to do with removing a goat from Main Street or someone’s grandmother dialing 911 because her TV isn’t working, and she can’t watch Judge Judy.
Another example is of a guy named Dale who lives over on 3rd Street. He wanted to file a police report because his neighbor’s cat wouldn’t stop staring at him from the window.
Every time Kristen stops by her local gas station, everyone there tells her how much they appreciate her service. By then, she’s usually sweaty from chasing the runaway goat.
Her job may consist of simple squabbles, but she loves her small town and wouldn’t trade it for the world.
“If you need somebody to come get your drunk cousin off of a John Deere tractor at two o’clock in the morning, in the middle of deer season, while dodging flying boots and him telling you that you’re violating his constitutional rights, I’m your girl. Give me a call, and I’ll come running,” stated Kristen.
In the comments section, several TikTok users shared their own small-town stories, confirming that the quietest communities often come with the loudest drama.

“Retired law enforcement here. I got a commendation in my file for stopping traffic to let a family of ducks cross the road. Apparently, a citizen thought I was heroic,” commented one user.
“Small-town dispatcher here, and my favorite is when the electricity goes out, and they call to see why it went out and when it is going to come back on!” exclaimed another.
“My small town got a call about a bovine that had escaped the vet hospital. A new-to-town officer called back over the radio…’What’s a bovine?’ The way literally everyone listening nearly died laughing,” added a third.
