Married life comes with plenty of surprises, and not all of them are good. Over 10 years ago, TikToker Audrey’s (@chickennuggetlife8806) April Fool’s Day took a dark turn.

The night before April Fool’s Day, her husband professed his love for her, and he couldn’t wait to grow old with her. The next day, she went to work and was waiting for someone to pull a harmless prank.

In the middle of her workday, she received a text message from her husband, saying that he wanted to get a divorce. Of course, Audrey thought it was all just one big joke at first.

But after a little bit of talking, she realized that he was serious. After work, she went home and asked him why he suddenly wanted a divorce.

He told her that he wanted biological kids, and she could never give them to him. So, they fought for a while and then decided to file for divorce in the morning.

She let her job know that she would be late because she was filing for divorce first thing in the morning.

The next day, they drove to the courthouse, filled out the paperwork, and turned it in. Her husband proceeded to get in his car and drive back to his home state. She went to work like nothing had happened.

In the comments section, everyone was bashing her ex for being a horrible person without knowing the whole story. As a result, Audrey had to clarify that their marriage ending was for the best, and they did not have any ill will toward one another.

She also explained in a comment that they were young and had rushed into their marriage without getting to know each other.

She thinks society has normalized hating people after breakups and divorces way too much because not every relationship ends in a fiery disaster.

Both of them have now moved on, but still keep in touch and get along with each other. Her ex has a girlfriend and the healthy kid he always wanted.

“He wasn’t abusive, he wasn’t a cheater, and he was a hard worker. When he and I got divorced, he left me the house and didn’t ask for any profits upon selling or anything because I had two kids, also speaks volumes,” Audrey wrote.

Nichole, the second wife and mother of his child, advocated for him in the comments as well, saying that he was actually a great person, despite getting divorced from him.

“I’m super close with his new girlfriend of four years. He’s the absolute best dad in the world to our son and his stepson he raises. Also, we all get along well and coparent well. There was no side chick he left for…marriages just fail,” wrote Nichole.

Overall, Audrey’s divorce was not the bitter ending people had expected. It was the beginning of two people finding peace on separate paths.
