Growing up, TikToker Tharyn (@tharyn_beyondtheveil) didn’t just live in any old family home. They lived in the most haunted house in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Throughout their years of living in that house, many strange events have happened to her family.
One time, a random man approached Tharyn’s mom while she was outside. He explained that he used to live in the house and needed to retrieve a painting that he had left behind.
He proceeded to describe the painting, saying that it was really important to his family. Tharyn’s mother was super confused.
“We’ve been living there at this point for 20 years and never saw this painting,” Tharyn said. “No idea what this guy is talking about.”
“He did not appreciate this response. He insisted that he would go in himself and get it because he remembered where it was.”
Of course, Tharyn’s mom was not going to let a complete stranger just walk into her house based on some vague story about a lost painting, but he did not back down.
They argued back and forth for a while, but eventually, he gave up and left, disappearing down the street. They never saw him again.
The strange encounter might’ve seemed like a one-off, but it wasn’t; not even close. It was not an isolated incident, as countless people have claimed to be previous residents of the house.
They all left things behind in it and wanted them back. None of them had any actual proof of missing personal belongings or valuables.

“When my mom first told me that story, I really believed that that man was a ghost,” Tharyn said. “Never a dull moment growing up there. You never knew who was going to show up.”
Whether these visitors were real people with faulty memories, opportunists trying to get inside to steal things, or something a little more otherworldly, Tharyn’s haunted childhood home certainly had a strong pull.
Tharyn’s story is a reminder that some homes hold memories that they won’t let go of. Maybe those strangers were ghosts after all, and maybe they’ll come knocking again on Halloween, looking for their lost paintings and other items one more time.
Now that Tharyn has grown up, she has partial ownership of her childhood home. Several TikTok users shared their thoughts in the comments section.
“It’s like the ghosts need permission to get inside,” pointed out one user.
“What if someone left a bunch of money hidden inside and they told people? Then, those people tried to get in to retrieve it,” suggested another.
“They wanted permission to go into the house. I know this is a bad thing, normally to invite a spirit in, but I don’t remember why,” stated a third.
