There’s something haunting about realizing the person your partner is sleeping with isn’t your enemy, but another casualty in one big mess.
We largely tend to believe that affairs are built on villains and victims, but sometimes the truth is softer and sadder than that. In this case, there are two women loving the same man, yet they’re both being lied to.
This woman’s husband is unfortunately cheating on her, and she’s known for the last eight months. She was first tipped off when she saw a text come through from someone her husband saved on his phone under the name Henry…but the message said ‘I love you,’ along with a bunch of hearts.
Henry was clearly not a Henry. She was able to sync her husband’s text messages through their iCloud account, and she’s been reading them since she did that.
“Even worse, his mistress is also a victim in this. She has no idea that he’s married. He told her that he’s separated from me, and we’re going through the divorce process,” she explained.
“To his credit, he doesn’t badmouth me as the horrible ex-wife that makes him miserable. He doesn’t talk about me at all. I also think that’s because the ‘evil ex-wife’ is a classic lie from a cheating husband, and she’s smart enough to see through that.”
“I know that usually the wife hates the mistress or at least resents her, but I can’t hate her. I love her so much. She has no idea that my husband is a loser, and she’s such a sweetheart who deserves the entire world.”
This woman makes holiday cards for people in a nursing home near where she lives and sends pictures of them to her husband. Her husband’s mistress is so kind-hearted, and she knows the holiday season is incredibly lonely for nursing home residents.
This woman also sends her husband tiny love poems. When her husband mentions being stressed out, this woman always wants to know how she can help make things better.

Her husband’s mistress is so intelligent, and she sends lengthy texts about interesting topics to her husband. She really likes and admires this girl, and she doesn’t fault her for what her husband is doing behind both of their backs.
“My loser of a husband doesn’t deserve to even breathe in her direction. I know that I need to confront him and tell him that I want a divorce. I’ve been putting it off,” she added.
“He wouldn’t be man enough to face her, so it would be up to me to break her heart for him by giving her the bad news. I don’t want to be the one who makes her cry.”
“I just hope that she knows that even though she lost a cheating boyfriend, she’ll have a friend in me. I don’t want her to feel embarrassed or ashamed for something that was done to her and not because of her. That’s what I’m dreading the most about the upcoming [mess].”
I so admire her grace and compassion. The other woman is always supposed to be a threat, a homewrecker, or the bad guy. But here, she’s not actually the problem: she’s just another person who believed the wrong man.
I hope she and her husband’s mistress can both go on to find love and happiness after she exposes her husband for the slimy cheater that he is.
