If you caught your spouse holding hands with their friend’s spouse for ten entire minutes, would you be worried something was going on between them?
This woman got married to her husband close to a year and a half ago, and they have been with one another for five years. Her husband has a friend group that he’s been tight with for more than 20 years, and from the start, she felt excluded by these people.
“Before my husband and I met, they spent a lot of time together following my husband’s divorce, and our relationship changed the dynamic,” she explained.
“I’ve told my husband how hurtful this has been, but instead of addressing the issue, he has preferred to act as though everything is fine because he doesn’t want to jeopardize his friendship.”
When she met her husband’s friends for the first time, it was at a party. Her husband spent the whole night dancing with his friend’s girlfriend (later turned wife) instead of spending time with her.
She felt lonely and sad over that. At the parties that followed, she could see her husband kept putting his attention on this woman instead of her.
This woman is a flirt who thrives on male attention, and she did tell her husband about how hurt she was. She then requested that her husband have this couple over for dinner at their house so they could get to know her better.
The couple declined and gave a silly reason as to why they weren’t interested in getting together. This leads us to a recent event they all had to attend for a pretty somber occasion.

“Towards the end of the evening, I noticed my husband and this woman sitting alone in a corner, holding both of each other’s hands while talking,” she added.
“They remained like that for around 10 minutes, and from where I was standing, it looked very intimate. When my husband noticed me looking at them, he came over and sat closer to me.”
“I didn’t confront him at the time. Instead, I made the mistake of telling the woman’s husband that she was ‘cuddling with my husband’ when her husband sat next to us. My husband became very upset, said I had embarrassed him in front of his friend, and wanted to leave immediately.”
Her husband claimed that they were only providing one another with comfort as friends. The thing is, her husband hardly sees this woman at all, so she’s not his friend.
Her husband snapped that she made herself look insane, and he doesn’t have feelings for this woman. He then mentioned this woman sat down beside him and grabbed his hands first.
She thinks she was childish to tattle to the other woman’s husband, and she wishes she could take it back. Yes, she had a bit to drink, but she was so upset and couldn’t handle her husband being so close to this woman.
“When we discussed it later, my husband said that if I didn’t want this to happen, I should have sat next to him. We were all gathered around the bar, and people were mingling,” she continued.
“[Am I overreacting] for feeling hurt because my husband broke our marriage boundaries?”
Wow, her husband is a real winner, isn’t he? Let’s recap here: his best friend hates her guts, he’s all over his other friend’s wife when they attend events, and he has the audacity to say she’s the one ruining everything.
I am really struggling to understand why she wants to still be married to someone who won’t stick up for her, but who will fawn all over another woman in front of her face.
What advice do you have for her?
