When your spouse says they’re saving up their PTO for something important, you usually don’t assume that something is a secret life you’re paying for. But that’s exactly what he uncovered after one accidental look at his wife’s phone.
This 29-year-old man was using his 33-year-old wife’s phone while they were out shopping together in Home Depot to figure out where in the store a specific item was located.
His phone was dead, which is why he didn’t use it. Anyway, while he was on his wife’s phone, he saw a message pop up that said, ‘I love you,’ and it was sent from someone he didn’t recognize.
He questioned his wife about who that person was, and she shrugged while swiping the message away. He didn’t think for a minute that his wife would be cheating on him, so he joked about it.
“…And she just sat there with this spooked/blank face, and as I looked in her eyes, it hit me…this is actually real right now. Needless to say, I’m very hurt,” he explained.
“We’ve been together for 4 years and married for 3, and have a 2-year-old son together. She has one 8-year-old from a previous marriage that she shares custody of as well. When we first got together, she told me how she was always upset that her ex cheated on her multiple times and ruined the stable family that she always wanted to have.”
“And now here she is doing this to us and our family. My son having to grow up with divorced parents is something I never wanted to happen. But I refuse to be taken advantage of and disrespected, so I see no other option.”
Looking back, there were signs his wife was not being faithful that he ignored or was given an excuse for that he bought. His wife had a job at Amazon, and their time off policy is super generous, so she would take time off constantly since she hated going to work.
He used to work in the same building as his wife, so he knows this wasn’t a lie, at least. Approximately four or five months ago, his wife began going to work every single day out of the blue.

When he asked his wife to take time off to do things with him, she said no and mentioned she was saving her time off for something more meaningful and had to be more responsible. He found this bizarre, especially after he pleaded with her to stay home and she went off to work anyway.
“She recently has been on a new kick about wanting to get a different job because she’s sick of working in a warehouse and wants to get an office job etc, so I’ve been extremely supportive of this and am fronting all the bills myself by working extra days while she is at home studying for a pre-licensing exam for an insurance job she just landed,” he added.
“After finding out about the infidelity, I called an old coworker from Amazon and asked if she was aware of this, and she told me she has heard rumors but wasn’t sure. And then proceeds to drop the bomb on me that she got fired from her job a month ago.”
“(Roughly the same time frame that this talk about wanting to get a new job started). So she was pretending to go to work for at least 2+ weeks from 5:30 pm – 5:00 am like normal, but in reality she has been going to the other guy’s house.”
I think a divorce is certainly in order. It’s sad that his wife could be so deceitful and lie about going to work, yet go spend time with her affair partner!
