Growing up, TikToker Maria (@carolinawilli16) was spoiled rotten by the high-effort things her stay-at-home mom always did for her.
She thought the behavior was normal for all parents, but later in life, she realized that her mom was doing what she calls “Olympic-level parenting.” In her video, Maria lists five high-effort things her mom did for her growing up.
Number one: her mom used to get up an hour early to make hot chocolate for her before school, then bring a steaming mug to her room. This went on throughout middle school.
Secondly, her mom woke her up for school every morning, even during high school. Maria did not have an actual alarm clock because the noise scared her.
Third, her mom made her breakfast every morning, from cereal to waffles, pancakes, eggs, and bacon. To this day, her mom still makes breakfast for her.
Number four: her mom drove her and her brother to school every day until they got their driver’s licenses. Maria never rode the bus unless it was for field trips.
“She did this for [my brother and me], even when we started going to different schools,” said Maria.
“She would drive 20 minutes one way back to the house and 20 minutes the other way to take my brother to school. Also, when she would drive me to school, she would go and warm the car up so that I didn’t have to get into a cold car.”
Lastly, her mom made her lunch for her all throughout high school. She will still pack a lunchbox full of snacks for Maria if she knows that she will be out for a long time.

In the comments section, many TikTok users praised Maria’s mom for being so loving, sweet, and caring, while others related to her video by sharing their own motherly acts of service.
“I always promised myself that I would work around my daughter’s schedule, and I would always be there for her events at school. I didn’t have that privilege of my mom doing that since she was a single mom of two,” commented one user.
“I put my kids’ clothes in the dryer on cold days before they got dressed so they would be warm,” stated another.
“My mom used to put a space heater in my room an hour before waking me up and put my socks on for me while I lay there because my bedroom was above the garage and really cold,” added a third.
“My daughter didn’t like to get up for school, so I’d dress her while she lay in bed until at least sixth grade. She’s now 40, and I still spoil her but no longer dress her,” chimed in someone else.
