Starting at the age of 14, TikToker Dom (@domausar) spent two years in juvenile prison for attempted murder. So, she had a rough upbringing, which was what led her to commit this crime.
When she was three years old, her biological mother, who is now her father, was arrested and sentenced to 40 years in prison for attempted robbery and accessory to murder.
Her grandmother got custody of her and her three other siblings. She already had custody of one of Dom’s cousins, and along the way, she got custody of four other cousins. So, there were a total of 11 people living in a three-bedroom house.
Her grandmother was very abusive and would punish them for being too loud or playing too much. They were beaten regularly, and food was often withheld from them. Dom herself was frequently kicked down the stairs.
As the oldest girl of the bunch, she was subjected to a lot more abuse than the other kids. She was also made to clean, cook, and take care of the younger kids.
“I was the main subject of most of the abuse, but when one of my other family members got older, and she became the subject of abuse as well, I snapped,” Dom said.
That was her breaking point. She was 13 or 14 at the time. She ended up running away and spent a couple of nights outside before she returned and broke into the house.
She went to her grandparents’ room, doused their door in lighter fluid, and lit it on fire. Afterward, she woke up the kids so they could escape to safety.
When they were all outside, Dom just sat there and watched the house burn. The firefighters arrived and asked her what had happened. She admitted that she had started the fire. Ultimately, she was arrested just a week or two before turning 14.

“CPS had been to this house so many times because we would show up at school with bruises; we would show up with no food and raggedy clothes,” said Dom.
“But it’s crazy that all the times we complained about them abusing us, they didn’t do [crap], but now, I want to do something, and I’m the one in the wrong.”
She was sent to the Department of Youth Services in Ohio and was charged with arson and attempted murder. She did not receive an adult sentence and was only supposed to spend a few months in juvenile prison, but she kept getting into fights while she was there.
She would even fight the correctional officers, causing her to rack up some felony assault charges. No one ever visited or called her during the two years she was in juvie.
Eventually, she was released. Her abusive grandparents stopped being abusive. They still have custody of two cousins and treat them very well.
