After receiving a call from her son’s school that he had broken his hand, TikToker Jasmin (@justjasthingsss) is furious and wants to press charges against a seven-year-old child.
So, the school called one day at around 2 p.m. while she was in the middle of her afternoon nap. They told her that her son’s hand was broken, and he was being taken to the hospital.
She lived just down the road from the hospital, so she decided to pick him up and drive him to the hospital herself instead of racking up an expensive bill from an ambulance ride.
When she arrived at the school, she found her son with a swollen finger. The teachers tried to downplay the whole incident, saying that her son had been overreacting.
Apparently, a little girl at school had broken his finger. She took him to the hospital to get fixed up and let him rest over the weekend.
On Monday, she pulled up to the school and demanded consequences. This little girl had not only broken her son’s finger, but she also messed up his growth plate.
Jasmin wanted the little girl to be suspended. She also wanted to press charges against her.
A staff member told her that she could not press charges against a seven-year-old. But when she called the local police department, she was told that she could press charges if that was what she wanted, although the charges might not stick.
“I don’t care if it sticks or not,” said Jasmin. “I just want her to experience the consequences of her actions because apparently, the school is not going to have it done.”

She does not believe it was an accident because there was no way a child would grab another child’s thumb and bend it backward far enough to break it without the other child crying out for them to stop. At this point, Jasmin is viewing the situation as her child being assaulted by someone.
Many TikTok users agreed with the measures Jasmin was taking and even offered her some advice on what else to do in the comments section.
“As a previous school nurse, call the school and tell them you want their insurance info with the documents to fill out for the school district to pay your son’s medical bills and/or reimbursement. Every school/district has to carry insurance for reasons like this, among other reasons. I hope your son heals quickly!” commented one user.
“As a teacher and a person who doesn’t have kids, I’m glad you’re pressing charges. More parents need to when things get serious like this. Some kids feel as if they’re not going to get in trouble just because they’re kids,” wrote another.
“Go to the superintendent for the district, file a complaint, and really, to be honest, hire a lawyer and sue the school for negligence,” added a third.
