Within her first month at college, TikToker Hannah (@hughes.hannahh) had a stalker drive nearly 10 hours to her campus, break into her dorm hall, and talk to the right amount of people until he found her.
So, when she was in her last year of high school, Hannah met a guy named John. He was very attractive and charming, and he also had a presence on social media.
She had no mutual friends with him, and they didn’t live in the same city, so all she really knew about him was what she saw online.
They were friends on and off for a while. They reconnected in September of her freshman year of college. Their conversations were always innocent. They were not in a relationship at all.
“About a week prior to John showing up on my college campus, I missed my first red flag from him,” said Hannah. “I posted a picture of myself on Instagram…”
“John called me on FaceTime later that day, walked around his room, and in the background, I saw something familiar. It was my photo that I had posted in the same day, framed in a poster size on his wall above his bed.”
She was immediately uncomfortable, but didn’t know what to do at first. She thought he was just being funny, so she brushed it off.
John then told her that he had some PR packages that he wanted to send to her. She gave out her P.O. box address, not her dorm address. She figured it would be okay because he still didn’t know where she lived.
On Thursday, September 18, 2025, John dressed up and drove nine hours to her college campus at six in the morning. He was carrying a bouquet of flowers and walked into a dorm near where she lived.

He showed her mailing address to the reception desk and claimed that he was making a delivery. The person working at the desk recognized the address and directed him to the correct dorm.
John walked over and waited by the door until someone let him in. No one thought twice about it because he didn’t look creepy. He seemed like he could be a student there.
Then, he walked up and down the hallways until he found her room. He knocked on the door and asked her roommates where she was.
They figured that he was just one of her friends or a guy who really liked her, so they told him that she was in the library. So, John walked to the library and wandered each floor until he found her on the fourth floor.
“I cannot even begin to tell you the fear that was in my body the moment that I saw him and understood what was going on,” said Hannah.
“Now, I told him that I was taking a proctored exam, and I was being filmed because I was. That’s why I was in the library.”
He went to sit in a chair across from her and waited for her to finish the exam, so she couldn’t just pack up her stuff and make a run for it.
Eventually, she came up with a plan to escape the situation. She told him that she had a work meeting back at her dorm and that she would hang out with him later, playing into his fantasy that she liked him.
After he walked her back to her dorm, she blocked him online. It was the last time she ever saw him. She called the campus police and had a meeting with them. John is now banned for life from the University of Arkansas campus.
