One day, TikToker Marissa (@marissalayb) learned that her best friend digitally kidnapped her daughter. To clarify, her best friend was claiming her daughter as her own. Here’s how she found out.

On Thursday, March 12, Marissa, her best friend, and her daughter were all hanging out. While they were chatting, her best friend announced that she was thinking about quitting her job.

There was a woman causing major problems and drama at her job. Of course, Marissa was in full support of her friend finding a new job with a better environment.

Then, on Sunday, March 15, Marissa was at home when she received a message request from a woman she did not know.

The message read, “Mom to mom, I just feel like you need to know that one of your friends is posing as your daughter’s mother.” The woman named Marissa’s best friend as the poser.

“So, I don’t respond to that woman,” said Marissa. “I immediately go to the source. I message my best friend, and I sent her the screenshot, and within 10 seconds, she calls me.”

She called the other woman crazy and claimed that she had taken the whole situation out of context. Before they hung up the phone, her best friend kept telling her to block the woman. Marissa had a weird feeling and decided not to block her.

A couple of hours later, Marissa was still thinking about how strange their conversation had been. Her husband suggested that she reply to the woman, so that’s what she did. The woman had proof to back up her claim. She sent Marissa multiple screenshots of messages with pictures of her daughter.

The first screenshot involved her best friend claiming that she was taking “her daughter” to the doctor. The second screenshot was a photo of Marissa’s daughter that Marissa had actually sent to her best friend. The next screenshot was two days after Christmas, and it was of Marissa’s daughter in a playpen.

“I had a tattoo appointment that day, and my friend was coming with me,” explained Marissa. “My daughter was in her playpen, and she was only wearing a diaper.”

“My friend took a picture of her because she was being all cute and smiley. She sent me the picture, and I thought that was the end of it. But it wasn’t.”

While she was sitting next to Marissa at the tattoo shop, she sent the photo to her coworker and updated them on “her daughter’s” Christmas break. Her best friend also stole pictures from her social media account to send to this coworker.

Additionally, there were screenshots of a text conversation in which her best friend was talking about her birth story with Marissa’s daughter. The coworker found out that Marissa’s best friend was lying about her daughter after speaking to a mutual friend.

“After receiving all this information, I sit on it for two to three hours,” said Marissa. “While I’m sitting on it, my friend is just texting me, and then she ended up texting me her resignation email to her boss. So, she quit because all her coworkers knew, and she knew that they knew.”

Finally, Marissa confronted her best friend. She apologized and called her. Marissa recorded the whole conversation of her admitting to it, and then she posted about it publicly on social media.

Marissa also called the cops, and a deputy went to her friend’s house and watched as she deleted all the pictures of Marissa’s daughter from her phone. Marissa was told that she could press charges, but has decided not to at this time.
