This 28-year-old guy had been “seeing” his friend Amanda, who is 27, for over a year.

They acted like a couple in every way– going on dates together and sleeping together. Plus, they even lived together.

Yet, every single time he tried to make it official by asking Amanda to be his girlfriend, she always insisted that they were “just friends.”

“And it started to really bother me that after a year, she still wouldn’t acknowledge that we were in a relationship,” he recalled.

Then, while he was at the bar one evening, he wound up meeting a woman named Lisa– who apparently acted “very forward.” So, to him, it was clear that she was interested in him.

And since Amanda had repeatedly made it clear that they were just friends, he figured it wouldn’t be cheating if he hooked up with Lisa that evening– and that’s exactly what he did.

He wound up taking Lisa back home to his apartment, which he shared with Amanda.

“And we were ‘cuddling’ on the bed when Amanda walked in,” he revealed.

After seeing him with another woman, Amanda was absolutely furious and gave him the cold shoulder for days– refusing to talk to him.

But, after he groveled and apologized repeatedly, Amanda finally forgave him and agreed to become his “official” girlfriend. That was six months ago, and they’ve been exclusively dating ever since.

However, whenever the situation comes up in conversation, both Amanda and her friends always accuse him of being “out of line” for hooking up with another woman.

In fact, they claim that he and Amanda were “clearly more than just friends,” even though Amanda always shot down his requests for a relationship.

“But I figured since she kept insisting we were just friends, I was free to see other people,” he vented.

Still, with both his now-exclusive girlfriend and her friends ridiculing him, he can’t help but wonder if hooking up with another girl before they were official was really a jerky move.

How would you feel if your partner refused to acknowledge and make your relationship official? Was it cheating in this situation or not? What advice would you give him?
