I suppose there are some people out there floating around in the world whose moms never told them not to chew while speaking, and Riley (@rilestherainbow on TikTok) met a man like this in real life, who had the worst dinner etiquette I’ve certainly ever heard of.
Riley first encountered this guy on a dating app, and they went out on their first date on Cinco de Mayo. Riley excitedly thought it was a great excuse to go out for margaritas and fajitas.
When she sat down with him at the table on the night of their date, Riley quickly realized that this guy was not going to be closing his mouth while eating.
She was surprised he didn’t even shut his mouth to swallow his food and found that to be a jaw-dropping feat. Seriously, how can you swallow while opening your mouth?!
Well, Riley did an impression of him, and I guess he just smiled and gritted his teeth while he gulped down bites of his food. So bizarre.
Anyway, Riley ordered fajitas for dinner, and this guy got a burrito platter. They were in a Mexican restaurant, and Riley said the burritos they serve there are so different than what you order at a Taco Bell or Chipotle.
There’s just no way to pick up burritos served in that Mexican restaurant and eat them with your hands, since they’re way too sauce-covered and messy. But that didn’t deter Riley’s date in the least.
“This man picks it up, shoves half of it in his mouth. Cheeks puffed and everything, keeps talking…like sauce dripping from his mouth, talking,” Riley explained in her video.
“I look down at my fajitas, [there are] literally particles from his mouth from what he’s eating on my food. Thank God I had a margarita, because I really don’t know what I would have done.”

“I wasn’t engaging in conversation. I don’t remember the conversation. I was too grossed out. Yeah. Alright. Well, I’ll talk to you later. Bye.”
Riley did mention she sort of blacked out because she was so put off by what this guy did, and she definitely didn’t want to eat her food after chunks flew. How sad it was that the chunks were flying and not sparks.
“I’m shaking just thinking about being in that situation,” one person commented on Riley’s video.
“How [the heck] did you sit through that?” another person miraculously wondered.
Have you ever been on a date with someone who lacked basic table manners or made you feel too grossed out to eat your food? Do you think Riley should have gotten up and walked out of there as soon as the spit started flying all over her fajitas?
