Everyone has different rules for a separation, and sometimes that includes seeing other people. But how would you feel if your spouse threatened to divorce you, unless you agreed to buy a house next to the person they slept with while you were separated, except they left out that major detail?
Back in September, this woman and her husband came across a lovely house that they really did want to buy. It was larger than the one they were already in, and closer to the school their kids go to, so it had a lot to offer them.
However, there was something that prevented her from wanting to move ahead with the purchase, and her husband wasn’t ok with that.
“A few of the financial stipulations I had didn’t pan out, so I got cold feet on it. He went full steam ahead, continuing to purchase, going so far as to threaten to divorce me if I didn’t sign my name on it and move with him…but that’s not even the main issue,” she explained.
“Throughout this process, I mentioned several times that I knew one of his former [physical] partners lived over here (from a time we were separated), and I did not want to accidentally run into her.”
She did cave and give in to her husband’s push on buying the place, and they officially moved in there back in December.
It was actually on Sunday that she said to her husband that they have lived in their new house for the last six months, but she never checked out the backroads that lead to their home.
The reason for this is that she has been afraid of inadvertently driving past the home of her husband’s former hookup, as she knows that woman lives somewhere nearby.
“He gave me a look….and told me that she lives on the ONLY street going out of our neighborhood. I’ve been driving past her house every single day and not known it,” she continued.

“Back story, he’s not given me [a] direct reason to think they are still a thing…but he still goes to bars where she frequents a few times a week.”
“As far as trying to be respectful to me and avoid where he might see her when he’s out without me, that’s a no.
I freaked out and have basically shut down.”
She’s left wondering if she’s a jerk or blowing this all out of proportion.
Threatening to divorce your spouse if they don’t buy the house you want is crazy town, friends. Nobody normal acts like that, so it leads me to believe that her husband is still sleeping with that woman. Why else would he want to basically live next to her?
He probably thought the close proximity would help him sneak around. It’s also not adding up to me that he goes to the bars this woman hangs out at multiple times a week.
She needs to read between the lines here; she’s hardly the only woman in her husband’s life, and I think she’s underreacting.
