According to TikToker Elizabeth (@elizabeththorne_), dating in Arizona is a horror show. One time, she went on a date with a guy.

It was her first date after getting out of a seven-year relationship. They met up at a restaurant. He was sitting at the bar when she arrived, so she went to sit next to him, and they started exchanging pleasantries.

He seemed kind of shy, so it was a bit awkward. She was thinking that he just needed some time to break out of his shell. But then, he started telling her that he hated Mexican people.

Elizabeth was shocked, especially since she is Mexican herself. He told her that he was fine with it because she “didn’t look Mexican.”

The date continued to get worse because he would not stop talking about how he hated certain types of people due to the color of their skin.

She was confused because he was mixed-race himself and extremely embarrassed because of how loudly he was talking.

“After that, we go to a speakeasy that’s around the corner, and I know I should have ended the date, but I really wanted to see where the speakeasy was,” said Elizabeth.

“We were there for like 10 minutes before I was like, I have to leave. He was rude to the bartender. Didn’t even tip him, so I had to tip him.”

You’d think things couldn’t get any worse, but they did. While they were walking back to her car, he shoved her into a tree, causing her to stub her toe on the cement surrounding the tree.

He laughed at her as her toe began gushing blood. She couldn’t understand what was so funny. That was when she called it a night and headed straight home. She made an unfortunate realization the following day.

“The next day, I’m leaving my apartment and guess who lives in my apartment complex?” said Elizabeth. “This dude. He lives right next door to me, and I had to continue to see him for months until I moved.”

Several TikTok users shared their experiences with terrible people in Arizona in the comments section.

“I knew a guy in Arizona who got a Swastika tattoo and tried to debate people by saying he only got it for the design and not the meaning behind it,” wrote one user.

“My version of a stubbed toe was from a date with a cop who asked me to smell what I thought was a candle. It was smelling salts. I burst into tears and had a hard time breathing. Meanwhile, he’s just laughing. This is also in Phoenix,” commented another.

“The minute he started yelling about hating people for their race or anything else would have been my cue to leave. This is unfortunately a rampant disease in certain parts of Arizona,” stated a third.

“My ex is from Arizona. After we broke up, the girl he dated before me finds out that we dated and starts messaging me on Facebook,” added someone else.
