We’ve all had bad days at the office, but most of us don’t use that as an excuse to obliterate the mood on a third date. So if you had someone come over for a date, insult you, storm out, and then show up with a fancy gift basket to apologize, what would you do?
This man got divorced not that long ago, and he then went on two great dates with a woman who just so happens to be an executive at a company where he used to work.
He thought they were compatible, and this woman is completely his type in the looks department. On their second date, they met up in the city for dinner and drinks.
They both admitted that they liked one another, and right after the date, this woman texted him nonstop. She was thrilled about their third date.
“There was one odd moment when she misunderstood a joke and suddenly said she couldn’t date me anymore…but then reversed herself 15 minutes later with apologies and helped plan date 3. I thought that was a bit odd but didn’t think much of it,” he explained.
“For the third date, she asked if she could come to my place and watch the World Cup together and make dinner together. I agreed, and I also confirmed with her again two hours beforehand.”
“I bought groceries and prepared the kitchen and everything. But when she arrived, she barely greeted me and ran inside to lie on my couch and repeatedly complained about work, traffic, poor sleep, and being exhausted.”
She then began answering emails on her phone before announcing she most likely could not stay to have dinner with him and felt like heading home.
He said that was alright, though he pointed out that he wished she had said something to him earlier in the day and not when she arrived at his house.

From there, she got nasty with him. She insulted his life as basic, called him too nice, too tall, and too skinny. She snapped that he wasn’t fit enough and had to gain a minimum of 50 pounds.
“I stayed calm and told her it felt like she had come over just to insult me…and that she should just go home, rest, and call me back when she’s her sweet, loving self again. There was absolutely no physical contact or yelling,” he added.
“She said we weren’t going to work and continued giving me unsolicited feedback, which mostly involved my physical attributes, and finally stormed off without saying bye.”
“I recently went through a divorce, so the sudden switch from romantic to contemptuous, especially inside my home, affected me more than I expected. I’m actually scared of dating now.”
This was definitely the most cringe date he has ever been on. The following morning, this woman showed up at his front door, holding a fancy gift basket.
She said she wanted to talk, so he met her outside and closed his door behind him. She then wanted to know if they could speak inside, and he just said his house was messy, because he wasn’t about to let her in.
That made her mad, but she stated that she wanted to make it up to him. He responded that she could plan another date for them in public, as he no longer feels safe being with her alone.
“She then started crying and said she is very sorry and asked me to go to dinner with her wherever I want, and that she’ll pay and drive me,” he continued.
“She said she has been living a work-centric life and she is burnt out, and doesn’t want to lose me and plans to change. I said sure, but I’ll have to check my schedule and get back to her because my dates are 100% definite.”
“I then told her to do some hard thinking and determine whether she is ready to date and be a kind, communicative partner; if so, then she can plan date 3. I then took the gift basket and went inside and locked the door.”
He has not heard from this woman since then.
Her mood swing was wild, and there’s no way she can excuse that as stress from work or whatever. She sounds unstable, and I think he’s lucky she hasn’t followed up with him for another date.
Also, he was way too kind to let her redeem herself like that. He needs to block her and move on, but he really didn’t do anything wrong. Sometimes, you just encounter crazies in the dating pool, and she’s definitely someone we can brand as one.
Why do you think she freaked out on him like that?
