Charles revealed that he’s in love with her, and he said that if he was still with her, he would have agreed to have gotten married.
“He told me he was an idiot for letting me go and that he thinks I’m the closest person in his life,” she continued.
“It was a very raw, open, and honest conversation which he’s never opened up to me quite like that before. It took me by surprise.”
She’s still reeling from hearing Charles say this all to her, and she’s very aware of the fact that they would never have made a good couple for more reasons than Charles initially not wanting to ever get married.
He’s been such a huge part of her life for such a long time, 17 years to be exact, and now she’s concerned she might lose him as a friend over this.
Charles has put her in an impossible situation, and she’s struggling to understand how she can continue their relationship as just friends since she doesn’t want to have to cut him out of her life.
To complicate things further, when Charles got an invite to her wedding to Arnold, he said he couldn’t make it. She figured it was weird, but this is clearly the reason he declined to come.
