She Paid For A Stranger’s Wedding Dress Yet Is Making Her Daughter Buy Her Own

A woman and her husband both were quite poor growing up, but they have worked their whole lives to get to a good place financially.

They certainly had to work exceptionally hard to do this, and so hard work is something they imparted to their children.

She and her husband agreed to never let their kids have it too easy or live too large, and that means they don’t go out of their way to buy them things they don’t really need.

They did generously buy their three children cars as they hit their teen years, which were used, and which the kids were expected to properly take care of.

She and her husband did foot the bill for college, and their 2 eldest children are married, so they did pay for their weddings.

One thing they did not purchase along with giving their kids wedding money was a wedding dress for their daughter and a tuxedo for their son.

Now, their baby Michaela is about to get married, and though they are funding her wedding, they want her to purchase her wedding dress by herself, keeping it in line with the arrangements they had with their older children.

Michaela did ask her and her husband (Michaela’s dad) to come with her when she shopped for her wedding dress, and it was a special moment to watch Michaela find the dress of her dreams.

As this mom was participating in this day leading up to Michaela’s wedding, she saw another bride trying on dresses, and she stopped to say something nice to this stranger.

She then got to chatting with this bride’s own mom, who revealed to her that they were extremely poor and they all had borrowed money to have this wedding.

The bride, the bride’s husband, the bride’s mom, and the bride’s dad had all gotten different loans in order to afford to have a wedding at all.

She kept talking to the bride and her mom and she learned that the bride, who is plus-size, already had visited 6 bridal shops to find a dress, but there were not a lot of dresses for her to pick from, and the ones she tried on were totally terrible.

In that particular shop they were all in though, the bride found a gorgeous wedding dress, but the bridal consultant had not read the cost of it properly.

Sadly, this dress was $1,000 more than the bride’s budget, and after taking into consideration the cost of her alterations, would be $1,400 more than what she could afford to spend.

“The bride took the dress off and said she’d try to find something online,” she explained. “I grew up poor and I was also a chubby kid.”

“I was bullied and I was very unhappy. I always wanted more and in this bride, I saw myself and I didn’t want her to have to settle for a dress that fit versus a dress she loved so while my daughter was changing I asked the other bride if I could pay the difference on her dress.”

“It was very emotional, we all held each other and cried, she accepted. I very happily paid the difference on her dress.”

She’s friends with the bride and the bride’s mom on social media now, and she was also asked to come to the wedding, which she was so excited to be able to go to with her husband.

It’s so meaningful to her that she was able to do something “small” to help this stranger out in an enormous way, and she’s so very touched that she was invited to this woman’s upcoming wedding.

She really did such an unbelievably kind thing for this bride, and it’s wonderful to know that there are people like this out there in the world.

Well, her daughter Michaela later learned about her extraordinarily kind gesture, and Michaela flipped out.

At the time she paid for the other bride’s dress, Michaela was trying a dress on and was not privy to what she was doing.

Michaela accused her of not prioritizing her own daughter, before insisting that she should have paid for her dress as well.

Michaela is not saying a word to her, or to her husband, which she finds cruel since her husband had nothing to do with her buying a stranger’s dress.

“She has now uninvited us from the wedding,” she said. “We’re so hurt and confused.”

As they say, no good deed goes unpunished. Do you think it was wrong of her to buy a stranger’s dress, yet let Michaela pay her own way on that one?
