This 19-Year-Old Girl Met Up With Her Ex-Boyfriend Right Before Starting College In 2016 And Was Never Seen Again
Tyarra Williams of Greensboro, North Carolina, was known for her kind nature and big heart.
And during her junior year of high school, she became very passionate about helping children. After all, Tyarra grew up with a younger brother with whom she was very protective over.
She also hoped to specifically help children with special needs and, by her senior year of high school, began working toward that goal.
Tyarra first moved into her grandmother’s Stoneybrook Apartment Complex in an effort to become more independent. Then, after graduating high school, she took a gap year before preparing for college in December of 2015.
That month, she registered at Guilford Technical Community College as an early childhood development and education major. And on the morning of January 7, 2016, Tyarra’s higher education dreams were all about to come true.
That day, she traveled to the college to pick up her student ID and register for classes. And afterward, Tyarra went to her mother, Danielle’s, apartment. The pair planned to go back-to-school shopping for supplies and textbooks the very next day.
Then, in the evening, Tyarra’s boyfriend, Aaron, visited to attend family dinner and watch some TV.
But, at 8:30 p.m., Tyarra, her younger brother, and Aaron all left her mother’s apartment– and Tyarra was never seen again.

While walking her brother and Aaron to the parking lot, Tyarra told Aaron that she had plans to meet a friend named Travis. Travis allegedly lived in the apartment complex, and Tyarra claimed she would be back within an hour.
Aaron had never heard the name “Travis” but did not question his girlfriend. So, while Tyarra left on foot to meet Travis– because she did not have a car– Aaron and her younger brother went to go play video games.
Then, one hour later, at 9:30 p.m., Aaron went back to Tyarra’s grandmother’s apartment to check on his girlfriend, but she was nowhere to be found. He also tried texting and calling her numerous times, but Tyarra never answered.
Aaron then returned the following day and found that his girlfriend had never returned home. So, in a panic, he informed Tyarra’s grandmother, who contacted her mother, Danielle.
Around this time, the family realized that Tyarra had left her purse behind and, moreover, who “Travis” really was.
After Danielle learned her daughter was missing, she logged onto Tyarra’s Facebook account and learned that “Travis” was an alias– and he was actually Tyarra’s ex-boyfriend.
So, by 8:00 p.m. on January 8, 2016, Tyarra was officially reported missing to the Greensboro Police Department.

Authorities immediately launched a search of the Stoneybrook Apartment Complex, but no clues were uncovered. Police also interviewed “Travis”– whose real name has never been revealed– and he claimed to have sat with Tyarra in his car while they spoke for about half an hour.
After combing through Travis’ car, though, authorities were again left with no new information or discoveries.
In turn, Tyarra has been considered an “endangered missing person” for six and a half years now. Her case is currently being handled by the Crimes Against Persons Squad of the Greensboro Police Department, and her family has continued fighting for answers.
The Williams family even created a Facebook page entitled “Help Find Tyarra Cacique Williams,” which now has over twenty-three thousand followers. There, her loved ones have shared heartfelt messages about Tyarra and pleaded for help from community members.
“Today is your twenty-sixth birthday. It is so hard to believe that the last time I laid eyes on you, spoke to you, expressed my love to you, you were only nineteen,” Danielle began in a post on Tyarra’s birthday this past June.
“We have not given up on the mission to find you, to find answers, and to find somebody who truly knows something… Tyarra, we love you, and we are still trying!”
Tyarra is a Black woman standing five feet and five inches tall, and at the time of her disappearance, she weighed one hundred and twenty pounds. She was last seen wearing a pink shirt, black North Face jacket, dark blue Levi’s jeans, and a blue knit cap.
If you have any information regarding Tyarra’s case, you are urged to contact the Greensboro Police Department at (336) 373-2222.
