“I was a little taken aback and a little embarrassed but didn’t want to be rude. Everyone was kind of looking at me in a way that they were both amused and also pitiful.”
She did not want to cause a scene, and she thanked her boyfriend. Later on, in private, she did confront her boyfriend about the situation.
Her boyfriend shut her down and told her to quit whining since he always buys her expensive presents, and she couldn’t argue with that because he does.
She dropped the topic, as her boyfriend’s response made her feel like she was just being self-centered.
“I feel like what he did was very degrading,” she continued. “He could’ve gotten me no gift at all, and that would’ve been less humiliating.”
“I feel like trash for feeling this way, but he’s always been mindful, and I don’t understand why he did that. It made me feel cheap in front of everyone.”
She’s left wondering if it was bad of her to confront her boyfriend, and she can’t help but still feel terrible about it all.
Why do you think her boyfriend got everyone in his family something nice, yet he gave her a terrible present in front of all of his loved ones?
